The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team (RV) hits the road this weekend eyeing a third straight Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference regular season title. The Dragons play at Minot State on Friday at 5:30 p.m. while concluding the weekend at UMary on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Bismarck, N.D.
The Dragons (21-5, 17-3 NSIC) lead UMD by one game and Concordia-St. Paul by two games in the NSIC race.
With one win this weekend, MSUM clinches at least a share of its third straight NSIC regular season title. If MSUM is able to accomplish that feat, the Dragons would be the first league team to do so since Minnesota Duluth, which won titles in 1997-98, 1998-99 and 1999-2000. MSUM would be the first team to three-peat since the NSIC expanded to 16 teams prior to the 2012-13 season.
MSUM is the only team to win three NSIC division titles in a row and if the Dragons win the north title this year, would be the first to win four in a row. MSUM's division streak started in 2015-16 and the Dragons followed with division crowns in 2016-17 and 2017-18.
