The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team (RV) opens the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference/Sanford Health Tournament on Wednesday by hosting Upper Iowa. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m. at Nemzek Fieldhouse.
MSUM is seeking its first-ever conference tournament title.
MSUM is 23-5 on the year and won the NSIC regular season title for a third straight year and the NSIC North title for a fourth straight year. Upper Iowa is 3-27.

MSUM will meet Upper Iowa for a 24th time; the Dragons have never lost to the Peacocks in women's basketball as they hold a 23-0 series lead. The two teams met in early January in Fayette, Iowa, with the Dragons winning 58-46. Senior guard

The Dragons wrapped up the regular season with road wins at Minot State (78-61) and UMary (63-58) last weekend. The wins helped MSUM wrap up the NSIC title outright for a third straight year and also a fourth straight NSIC North Division Crown. Junior

Hintz leads MSUM at 15.3 points and 10.4 rebounds per game while sophomore guard
Kiley Borowicz averages 14.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. Senior guard
Jacky Volkert averages 12.8 points and 4.6 assists per game.
As a team MSUM scores 68.4 points per game and shoots 41.0 percent from the field. The Dragons outrebound their foes 41.1-32.2 and allow 58.8 points per game.
Karla Nelson is in her 19th season as the MSUM head coach with a record of 348-193 at the school. Nelson is the second-longest tenured head coach in the NSIC.
About Upper Iowa
The Peacocks are 3-27 on the season and have lost 23 games in a row. They closed out the regular season with home losses to Minnesota State (86-67) and Concordia-St. Paul (88-65) last weekend.
No Upper Iowa player averages in double figures. Natalie Dinius and Savannah Domeyer each average 8.5 points per game while Haley Martin leads with 6.1 rebounds per game. Casey Miles averages 2.6 assists per game while Domeyer averages 1.8 blocks per game.
Upper Iowa averages 55.4 points per game and allows 73.4. The Peacocks are being out rebounded 40.5-33.3.
Kelly Kielsmeier is in his first year as interim coach at Upper Iowa, he took over on Jan. 6.
