MOORHEAD, Minn. — A late three-pointer bounced off at the buzzer as the University of Sioux Falls edged No. 25 Minnesota State University Moorhead, 77-74 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women's basketball Saturday at Nemzek Fieldhouse in Moorhead, Minn.
It was the first home loss of 2018-19 for MSUM (19-5, 15-3 NSIC), which is now tied with Minnesota Duluth for the league lead with four games left. The two teams meet on Saturday, Feb. 16 in Moorhead. USF improved to 17-7 overall and 12-6 in the league.
Junior forward Hintz had a career-high 28 points to go along with 11 rebounds for her team-best 11th double-double of 2018-19. Senior guard
Jacky Volkert had 24 points, seven assists and four rebounds while sophomore guard
Kiley Borowicz had 11 points and five rebounds.
Volkert hit a three-pointer with 16 seconds left to tie the game at 74-74 but Anna Goodhope buried a three-pointer in the final seconds to put USF up three. A desperation three by Volkert bounced off at the buzzer, leaving the Cougars with a three-point win.
The game saw 13 lead changes and four ties. The Dragons led for 29:01 and led by as many as 11 points in the first half, at 20-9 after a three-point play by redshirt freshman
Peyton Boom. But USF closed the gap to one at 34-33 at halftime and from there the game was close, as neither team led by more than five points.

Nicole Herbranson had six points for MSUM in a losing effort.
MSUM continues the homestand on Friday against St. Cloud State. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m. at Nemzek Fieldhouse.
Steve d'Eustachio Stat of the Game: Tonight was
Megan Hintz's 17th double-double of her career and it was the first time that her team lost in the regular season during this feat. The only other loss was to Central Missouri in the NCAA Tournament on March 9, 2018.
