INDIANAPOLIS — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team is ranked fourth in the latest Central Region rankings released on Wednesday. The records and rankings are based off of games played through March 3.
Minnesota Duluth earned the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference's automatic bid by winning the conference tournament on Tuesday but MSUM remains in strong position for an at-large berth after advancing to the championship game. MSUM (26-6) has won three straight NSIC regular season titles and also set a school record with 26 wins in 2018-19.
The NSIC, the Great American Conference (GAC) and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) make up the 42-team NCAA Central Region again this year. The GAC and MIAA tournaments are later this week.
The top eight teams in the region advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament on March 15-16, 18. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the NSIC, GAC and MIAA postseason tournaments, with the remaining five spots being awarded on an at-large basis.
