INDIANAPOLIS – The Minnesota State University Moorhead volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at the UIndy Invitational on Saturday. The Dragons lost to Gannon, 25-19, 25-23, 25-14 and to Univ. of Illinois-Springfield 25-19, 25-21, 25-14.
MSUM finished nonconference play at 5-3.
Senior libero
Taylor Thorson had 11 digs against Gannon. Sophomore setter
Becca Koehn had 13 set assists and freshman
Amber Bretwisch 11. Sophomore Layla Sanati-Zaker and freshman hitter
Bridget Witzmann each had six kills. Sophomore outside hitter
Amanda Carlson had five kills.
Sanati-Zaker also had four block assists while
Katelyn Selensky had three.
MSUM hit .131 as a team while Gannon hit .325.
Against UL-Springfield, Carlson led the way with seven kills. Witzmann had six while Sanati-Zaker and Petrbok had five each. Bretwisch had 16 set assists.
Senior middle blocker
Kaylyn Jenkins had five block assists and one solo. Thorson had 15 digs to lead the back-row defense.
MSUM hit .138 for the match while UL-Springfield hit .286.
The Dragons make their 2019 home debut and also open Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play on Friday, Sept. 20 against Wayne State. First serve is 6 p.m.
