MINOT, N.D. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team continued its unbeaten start with a 1-0 win over Minot State in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opener for both teams Friday night in Minot, N.D.
MSUM is now 3-0-1 overall — their best start since 2011 — and 1-0 in the NSIC while Minot State fell to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in the league.
"It's a great way to start conference play," MSUM head coach
Christie Kopietz said.
The game was deadlocked at 0-0 after the first alf but in the 65th minute sophomore
Anna Steadland scored on a goal assisted by freshman forward
Mckenzie Ickert to give the Dragons a 1-0 lead. That was the only goal for either team. It was Steadland's first goal of the season while it was the team-best second assist for Ickert.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Kayleigh Sedlacek had two saves to preserve the shutout for the Dragons.
MSUM wraps up the weekend road trip on Sunday at the University of Mary for a 1 p.m. game in Bismarck, N.D.
