MSUM Women to Wrap Up Homestand Against Mavericks and Golden Bears; Play4Kay Game is on Saturday

The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team concludes a four-game homestand this week with games against Minnesota State, Mankato (5:30 p.m. on Friday) and Concordia-St. Paul (3:30 p.m. on Saturday).

MSUM will participate in the Play4Kay game on Saturday and the Dragons will wear their pink jerseys. Play4Kay raises awareness and money for cancers affecting women and is named after Coach Kay Yow.

The Dragons will meet Minnesota State for a 45th time with the Mavericks leading the series 27-17. CSP and MSUM will meet for a 41st time with the series tied at 20-20.

The Dragons split at home last weekend, beating Minnesota Duluth 56-51 before losing to St. Cloud State, 73-65 on Saturday.

Hintz leads MSUM at 15.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game while sophomore forward Peyton Boom averages 9.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.  Junior guard Sarah Jacobson averages 9.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game while sophomore Natalie Steichen averages a team-best 3.9 assists per game.

MSUM is outrebounding its opponents 44.4-31.7 and outscoring its foes 71.2-57.7.

Karla Nelson is in her 20th season as the MSUM head coach with a record of 366-202 at the school.

About Minnesota State
The Mavericks are 11-7 overall and 8-6 in the NSIC after sweeping Wayne State and Augustana at home last weekend.

Kirstin Klitzke leads the Mavericks at 10.2 points per game while Tayla Stuttley averages 9.5 points and 2.4 assists per game. Kristi Fett leads at 6.1 rebounds per game.

MSU scores 75.4 points per game and allows 70.6 and outrebounds its foes 42.8-41.0.

Emilee Thiesse is in her eighth season as the MSU head coach with a record of 133-88.

About Concordia-St. Paul
Concordia-St. Paul is 9-11 overall and 6-8 in the NSIC. The Golden Bears were swept at home last weekend, falling to Wayne State and Augustana. They enter the week on a five-game losing streak.

Riley Wheatcraft averages 14.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while Sidney Wentland averages 13.4 points and 4.7 points per game. Danielle Schaub averages 12.3 points per game while Meghan DuBois averages 10.4.

As a team Concordia-St. Paul scores 72.2 points per game and allows 72.9. The Golden Bears are being outrebounded by a 38.8-36.6 margin.

Amanda Johnson is in her fifth season as the CSP head coach with a record of 71-55 at the school.
