MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team ended the game on a 7-0 run to earn a 66-63 win over Minnesota State, Mankato on Friday night at Nemzek Fieldhouse in Moorhead, Minn. MSUM overcame 27 turnovers to survive with the three-point win.
Peyton Boom (30) had a career-high 23 points.
MSUM is now 15-7 overall and 10-5 in the NSIC while Minnesota State fell to 11-8 overall and 8-7 in the league.

Nicole Herbranson had a career-high 14 points, hitting four 3-pointers. Senior forward
Megan Hintz had 12 points, 15 rebounds and five assists while junior guard
Sarah Jacobson had 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
MSUM shot 44 percent (22-of-50) compared to 31 percent (22-of-71) for the Mavericks. The Dragons had a 53-31 edge in rebounds.
The Dragons were down 63-59 with 1:42 left before Boom hit a pair of free throws to cut the lead to two. MSUM forced a turnover on the next possession and Boom scored again to tie the game at 63-63 with 1:06 left.
Jacobson then hit a big layup and was fouled to make it 65-63 with 33 seconds left. She missed the free throw but the Dragons got a stop on the other end. Jacobson was fouled and hit 1-of-2 free throws to make it 66-63; the Mavericks had a change to tie with a three-pointer but the shot didn't drop and MSUM had escaped with a three-point win.
MSUM opened the game on fire, hitting eight of its first 10 shots on its way to an 18-2 lead just 4:18 into the contest. Boom was the catalyst, scoring 11 points in the first four minutes of the contest.
The Mavericks cut the lead to 18-14 by the end of the first quarter and MSUM led 32-27 at halftime. Herbranson proved a big spark off the bench offensively for MSUM, going 3-for-3 in the first half and accounting for nine points.
MSUM led by as many as 11 late in the third but the Mavericks hit a three late in the frame to cut the lead to eight.
The Dragons were up 59-52 with 4:11 left after a pair of Jacobson free throws but the Mavericks went on an 11-0 run over the next three minutes to take a 63-59. The Dragons scored the finally seven points after that.
The Dragons host Concordia-St. Paul at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday to wrap up the four-game homestead.
