MSUM Women Starts Road Stretch This Week at Beavers and Golden Eagles

The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team begins a stretch of four straight road games on Friday at Bemidji State (tipoff 5:30 p.m.). The Dragons will follow with a 3:30 p.m. game on Saturday at Minnesota Crookston.

The Dragons and Beavers will battle for the Century Trophy on Friday; the trophy goes to the winner of the second meeting of the year between the two teams. MSUM has won the trophy each year of its existence.

MSUM will meet Bemidji State for a 112th time and leads the all-time series 72-39 and has won the past 11 meetings. The Dragons will meet Minnesota Crookston for a 47th time and lead the series 38-8.

The Dragons (11-4, 6-1 NSIC) split at home last weekend, falling in overtime to Winona State 65-63 on Friday before beating Upper Iowa 76-32 on Saturday. Megan Hintz averaged 12 points per game to lead MSUM.

Senior forward Megan Hintz leads MSUM at 15.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while Jacobson averages 10.0 points, 3.3 assists and 6.1 rebounds per game.  Sophomore guard Natalie Steichen leads at 3.7 assists per game.

MSUM is outrebounding its opponents 44.4-31.1 and outscoring its foes 72.2-55.4.

Karla Nelson is in her 20th season as the MSUM head coach with a record of 363-199 at the school.

About Bemidji State
The Beavers are 6-6 overall and 3-5 in the NSIC after losing at Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State last weekend.

Trinity Myer averages 13.3 points, 3.9 assists and 5.9 rebounds per game for the Beavers. Taylor Bray averages 9.7 points per game while Rachael Heittola averages 9.4 points per game.

As a team Bemidji State averages 64.7 points per game and allows 62.7. The Beavers outrebound their foes 37.2-36.3.

Chelsea DeVille is in her fifth season as Bemidji State's head coach with a record of 30-91 at the school.

About Minnesota Crookston
The Golden Eagles are 2-10 overall and 1-7 in the NSIC. They lost at St. Cloud State on Friday and lost a one-point heartbreaker at Minnesota Duluth on Saturday. Their lone NSIC win came against Wayne State, 66-65 on Dec. 14.

Abby Guidinger averages 9.7 points per game to lead the UMC offense.  Bren Fox averages 7.1 rebounds per game while Emma Carpenter leads at 2.2 assists per game.

UMC scores 58.6 points per game and allows 72.7. The Golden Eagles are being outrebounded by a slight 37.8-37.3 margin.

Mike Roysland is in 14th season as UMC head coach with a record of 124-242.
