MOORHEAD, Minn. — Minnesota State University Moorhead head softball coach Amanda Reckamp has announced the signing of five student-athletes for the 2021 season.

Signing with MSUM include Emma Abbott of Queen Creek, Ariz.; Ella Holiman of Centralia, Mo.; Hannah Losee of Merrill, Wis.; Eliyah McCarthy of Columbia, Mo. and Annika Norman of Geneva, Ill.

"The make-up of this class includes a sizeable amount of individual successes that we are confident will collectively elevate Team 48 just as each class we have brought in has," Reckamp said. "In this class there is a high level of leadership capability, winning mentality, grittiness, and drive to elevate what we are doing here.  I look forward to them joining us with Team 48 and be added to our dedicated veteran group to continue moving Dragon softball to greater heights!"

Here is a look at the Dragon recruits:
Emma Abbott (P, 5-11, Queen Creek, Ariz./Casteel HS)

Has career of 24-5 with 2.84 ERA…has 222 strikeouts, including 123 in a single-season…pitched four no-hitters, including a perfect game, in 2019…team MVP…three-year starter…two-year letterwinner.

Reckamp: "Emma is a proven force on the mound and I believe she will come in right away to establish herself in our rotation.  She is ready to take on the challenge at the next level and we can't wait for her to continue her successful career on the mound in a Dragon uniform!  We are fired up to see the smoke she will throw starting with Team 48!"

Ella Holiman (UT, 5-6, Centralia, Mo./Centralia HS)
2020 Clarence Cannon Conference Player of the Year…second-team all-state...first-team unanimous all-district as a utility player in 2020…first-team all-region and first-team all-conference…3-time first-team all-district…hit .426 with three homers as a senior…second-team all-region as a junior in 2019…all-conference honorable mention twice…team MVP as a junior.

Reckamp: "Ella's career trajectory is a big reason why we are excited she will continue her career with the Dragons and Team 48!  Ella finished off her high school career with some high note accolades that prove she is ready to make an impact for us early in her career.  We look for Ella to help add to our veteran outfield core and make a name for herself."

Hannah Losee (UT, 5-6, Merrill, Wis./Merrill HS)
Hit .400 as a sophomore with three homers and 22 RBI to earn all-conference honors…junior season canceled because of COVID…part of two regional championships…Most Improved Player as a sophomore…all-time home run leader in Central Wisconsin Edge history…three-year letterwinner…multi-sport athlete…322 consecutive serves in volleyball without an error and finished 100 percent serving in WVC.

Reckamp: "Hannah is a player we feel can step into a number of roles depending on the needs of our team!  Hannah can play in the infield and the outfield which will add to our depth for Team 48.  Hannah's enthusiasm to be a Dragon only adds to our excitement that she will be in a Dragon uniform soon!"

Eliyah McCarthy (MIF, Columbia, Mo./Battle HS)
Four-time all-district selection…all-region and all-conference selection…three-year captain...career leader in triples, hits, stolen bases and runs scored…two-time MVP…four-time golden glove winner…four-year letterwinner in softball…multi-sport athlete...played for Missouri Select for eight years…played two years on Prospects.

Reckamp: "We are as fired up for Eliyah to be a Dragon as she is!  Eliyah was our first commit in this class and proved during her senior season at Battle why she was an exceptional add for us by crushing records in triples, hits, stolen bases, and runs.  She will bring leadership and a tremendous softball IQ with her as well as the hunger to be the absolute best she can be.  I have no doubt that Eliyah will be an integral part of the growth of our program during her time here starting with Team 48."

Annika Norman (MIF, Geneva, Ill./St. Francis College Prep HS
All-state and all-conference in 2019…part of state runner-up team in 2019…had .527 batting average and .569 on-base percentage…Orangeville MVP…played for Wasco Diamonds for six years…four-year letterwinner.

Reckamp: "Annika is a player that has been a part of a lot of success and we look for that mentality to be an asset to her when she puts on that Dragon uniform with Team 48!  Annika is an athlete I believe will come in and take advantage of every opportunity thrown her way.  She is a player that can be put in a number of positions and has a confident bat that will fight into our line-up."
