MOORHEAD, Minn.—The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team is set for two duals this week. The Dragons host UMary on Thursday for Senior Night at 7 p.m. MSUM then travels to Minneapolis, Minn., on Saturday to take on No. 2 Augsburg at 7 p.m.
Seniors
Zach Scott and
Logan Rhode will be the ones honored during Senior Night on Thursday.
The Dragons are 1-7 overall this season and 0-6 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. MSUM is coming off a 36-12 road loss to No. 17 Minnesota State-Mankato on Feb. 6.
Scott is 17-11 overall at 141 this season. Scott pinned No. 3-ranked Kyle Rathman of Minnesota State in 6:12 last week to pick up the victory.
Sophomore
Evan Foster fell 8-6 to No. 10-ranked Zach Johnston at 174. Foster is now 16-12 overall. Junior
Jordan Magnuson is 9-4 at 285. Magnuson took home a 3-1 win over Minnesota State's Max Villnow last Thursday. Sophomore
Mason Schulz is 16-13 at 141.
Kris Nelson is in his 11th season as head coach of the Dragons.
About UMary
The Marauders are 3-7 overall and 1-4 in the NSIC. UMary's sole NSIC win came against Southwest Minnesota State on Feb. 8 where they won 18-16. UMary's Braydon Huber is ranked No. 12 at 157 and took home a 12-5 decision win over SMSU. No. 7-ranked Phillip Springsteen earned a win over No. 8 Ben Kelvington of Augustana. Springsteen later pinned his SMSU opponent in just 41 seconds. His performance earned him NSIC Wrestler of the Week.
About Augsburg
Augsburg is 6-2 overall this season and ranked No. 2 in the nation in NCAA Division III. Before their match with the Dragons, the Auggies host MSUM's crosstown foe Concordia-Moorhead on Feb. 13. The Auggies sent 28 wrestlers to compete at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Don Parker Open last Saturday. The Auggies finished with a 54-44 record, including 31 bonus-point wins, 18 pins, eight technical falls, and five major decisions. Augsburg is ranked No.2 in Division III.
