MSUM Women to Battle Huskies and Bulldogs in Road Contests

The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team is on the road this week for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference contests. MSUM will face St. Cloud State at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at Halenback Hall in St. Cloud, Minn., and follow with a game at first-place Minnesota Duluth on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

MSUM is 16-9 overall and 11-7 in the NSIC.  The Dragons lost to St. Cloud State, 73-65 in January at home and beat UMD 56-51.  The Dragons trail the all-time series with SCSU 34-28 and trail the all-time series with Minnesota Duluth 53-37.

MSUM lost a pair of road games last weekend, falling to Southwest Minnesota State 66-61 and No. 13 Sioux Falls, 66-46.

Senior forward Megan Hintz leads MSUM at 15.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game while sophomore forward Peyton Boom averages 10.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.  Junior guard Sarah Jacobson averages 9.1 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game while sophomore Natalie Steichen averages a team-best 3.6 assists per game.

MSUM is outrebounding its opponents 44.3-31.8 and outscoring its foes 69.4-58.9.

Karla Nelson is in her 20th season as the MSUM head coach with a record of 368-204 at the school.

About St. Cloud State
St. Cloud State is 17-5 overall and 14-4 in the NSIC. The Huskies split at home, falling to Wayne State, 79-58 on Friday before beating Augustana, 71-67.

SCSU has five players averaging in double figures, led by Tori Wortz had 13.0 points per game and Madelin Dammann at 12.7 points per game. Nikki Kilboten is at 12.3 points per game while Katrina Theis averages 10.8 and Brehna Evans 10.5. Kilboten leads at 7.9 rebounds per game while Evans leads at 3.4 assists.

SCSU scores 69.5 points per game and allows 60.5 The Huskies outrebound their foes 37.5-32.2.

Lori Fish is in her 12th season as the SCSU head coach with a record of 185-139 at the school.

About Minnesota Duluth
The Bulldogs lead the NSIC with a 16-2 record and have a 19-5 mark overall. They beat Augustana and Wayne State at home last weekend.

Brooke Olson leads UMD at 15.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game while Sarah Grow averages 10.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Maesyn Thiesen averages 4.1 assists per game while Ann Simonet averages 3.5. Grow has 51 blocks.

UMD scores 67.5 points per game and allows 60.0. The Bulldogs are being outrebounded 36.2-34.5.

Mandy Pearson is in her fifth season as the UMD head coach with a record of 79-56.
