MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team lost to Division III power Augsburg 35-9 in a non conference dual Saturday night in Minneapolis.
The Auggies (7-2) are ranked No. 2 in the nation in Division III.
MSUM trailed 26-0 after five weight classes, as Augsburg recorded two pins, a technical fall and won by forfeit at 133 to stretch out the lead.
At 165, sophomore
Braydon Ortloff had a good win, defeating No. 2 ranked Lucas Jeske 6-3 to get the Dragons on the road. Ortloff was down 3-0 in the third period but got a takedown and then a 4-point near fall to take a 6-3 win.
Senior
Logan Rhode wrestled well for MSUM at 197, picking up a 6-3 win over Lorenzo Hernandez.
Junior
Jordan Magnuson improved to 10-5 on the year with a 10-5 win over Tyler Kim at 285. Magnuson was down 4-1 after one period but got a takedown and near fall in the second period to take the lead at 7-5.
MSUM wraps up the regular season on Wednesday at home against Minot State in a rescheduled match from January. The dual begins at 7 p.m. at Nemzek Fieldhouse.
