AUBURNDALE, Fla. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead softball team lost a pair of games on Friday to close its Florida trip. MSUM lost to Stonehill College 5-2 and lost to Concordia-Michigan 1-0.
The Dragons are 4-10 on the year.
"We left some good things on the field today, we just couldn't get over the hump," MSUM head coach
Amanda Reckamp said.
Sophomore outfielder
Jordey Smith was 3-for-3 with two doubles for MSUM while sophomore catcher
Jordie McNeilly was 2-for-4. Senior first baseman
Payton Gaber was 1-for-1 with a run scored and walked three times. Sophomore shortstop
Kaiya Sundeen had a double and an RBI.
Sophomore second baseman
Samantha Gjerde and senior third baseman
Emma Dummer added hits.
Sophomore
Anna Lang took the loss, giving up three runs (one earned)in four innings. She struck out two and walked two. Freshman
Abby Muelrath picked 0.1 innings and gave up two runs, one earned, while junior
Becky Berth pitched 1.2 scoreless innings.
Smith's RBI double scored Gaber in the fourth to put MSUM up 1-0. Stonehill scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-1 lead, and added two more runs in the fifth to make it 5-1.
Sundeen's RBI double scored Smith in the sixth to bring MSUM within 5-2, but the Dragons got no closer, despite leaving the bases loaded in both the sixth and seventh innings. MSUM left 12 runners on in the game.
In the loss to Concordia, Berth pitched well, giving up one earned run in seven innings. She struck out three and walked one.

Ally Helgoe had hits for MSUM.
The Cardinals scored lone run of the game in the third and made it stand.
MSUM's remaining schedule is undetermined.
"As we wait to see what happens with the rest of our season, I want to thank our seniors — Payton, Emma and
Madison Paige for leading Team 46 through a week of unchartered territory," Reckamp said. "We hope it isn't done for this group, however, they showed a lot of heart and grit this week even through a lot of uncertainty."
