BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Minnesota State University Moorhead senior
Carter Blackwell has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
It is Blackwell's first career honor and the first time a Dragon football player has earned an NSIC weekly award this season.
A native of Dickinson, N.D., Blackwell returned a kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown in the Dragons' 35-31 comeback win over UMary on Saturday. The kickoff came after UMary had just scored a touchdown to make it 24-14.
It is Blackwell's first career kick return for a score. It was MSUM's first kick return for a touchdown since Zayne Medhaug did so against Wayne State in 2014.
