MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's swimming and diving team won nine events on its way to a 128-77 win over Northern State to open its 2021-22 season on Saturday at the Nemzek Pool.
MSUM is now 1-0 on duals on the year.
"We couldn't be more proud of how the women supported each other today," MSUM head coach Charlie King said. "It was great to watch them have fun racing."
Freshmen Danielle Heckaman and Vasilina Shipilova each won two individual events to lead the way. MSUM also won both relays.
Heckaman had a strong collegiate debut, winning the 1,000 free in 11:25.42 and the 500 free in 5:35.92.
Likewise, Shipilova debuted strong. She won the 200 IM in 2:11.48 and added a win in the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.42.
MSUM's 400 medley relay, consisting of senior Lexie Bray, Shipilova, senior Katelin Winter and freshman Arina Bratamidjaja, won in 4:05.14.
Bray won the 50 free in 25.53 with freshman Lily Lengerich taking second in 26.15. Winter won the 100 butterfly in 59.09 while senior Kate MacGregor won the 100 back in 1:02.51.]
Freshman Demi-Lee Carlisle was second in the 100 free in 55.84.
MSUM's 400 free relay won in 3:41 with Winter, Carlisle, Bratamidjaja and Bray teaming up for the win.
MSUM's next scheduled event is set for Oct. 23 at home against Concordia-St. Paul.
