ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team dropped a 65-53 nonconference contest to Michigan Tech at the Dacotah Bank Classic on Friday in Aberdeen, S.D.
MSUM fell to 0-4 on the year while Michigan Tech improved to 4-1.

Natalie Jens had 15 points each for MSUM. Senior guard
Aliyah Miller added nine.
Boom led with six rebounds while senior guard
Nicole Herbranson and sophomore guard
Mariah McKeever added three assists each. Miller added two steals.
MSUM shot 35.7 percent (20-of-56) for the game compared to 51.8 percent (25-of-49) for Michigan Tech.
The Dragons led 16-15 after one quarter and were up 28-27 after junior guard
Natalie Steichen converted a layup with 2:07 left. Michigan Tech ended the half on a 7-0 run to take a 34-28 lead into halftime.
MSUM fell behind 43-30 midway through the third quarter but cut the gap to 45-41 moments later with Jens and Miller each hitting threes. The Dragons were within six going into the final frame.
The Dragons were as close as four (51-47) in the final quarter after a pair of Miller free throws with 8:07 left but Michigan Tech outscored the Dragons 14-6 the rest of the way to secure the win.
MSUM will play its final nonconference game of the season on Saturday against Montana State-Billings. Tipoff is at 1 p.m. at Wachs Arena in Aberdeen.
