MSUM Volleyball Wraps Up NSIC Road Slate at Minnesota State and No. 10 CSP

The Minnesota State University Moorhead  volleyball team continues its stretch of four straight road matches this weekend, starting Friday at Minnesota State, Mankato for a 6 p.m. match. MSUM will then face No. 10 Concordia-St. Paul at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

The Dragons lost to both teams by sweeps at home earlier this year.

The Dragons are 5-19 on the season and 5-11 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.  They have won two in a row, winning road matches at UMary (3-1) and Minot State (3-2) in their most recent competition.

Junior Amanda Carlson leads the team in kills with 319, followed by sophomore Bridget Witzmann with 157. Freshman Kelly Klees leads the team in set assists with 434. Carlson also leads in the team in service aces with 32.

Junior libero Sarah Petrbok has 332 digs while junior middle blocker Elise Bakke has 60 total blocks.

Bob Jones is in his first year as head coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead.  

About Minnesota State, Mankato

The Mavericks are 11-13 overall and 6-10 in the NSIC.  They have lost six matches in a row, including being swept by No. 8 Winona State on Tuesday night. 

Mariah Edgington has 201 kills to lead the Mavericks while Jessica Nelson has 173. Dana Schindler leads with 396 set assists while Mara Quam has 386 digs.  Kiya Durant has 95 total blocks.  Corey Phelps is in his first season as the MSU head coach.

About Concordia-St. Paul

The Golden Bears are 19-6 overall and 13-3 in the NSIC after losing to Upper Iowa in three sets on Tuesday. Jasmine Mulvihill has 277 kills to lead CSP while Sophia Andersen has 247 and Kennedy Brady has 196. Ellie Veldman has 701 set assists.  Tori Hanson has 360 digs while Mulvihill has 62 total blocks. As a team, CSP is hitting .249 for the season. Brady Starkey is in his 18th season as the CSP head coach with a record of 569-72.
