MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's swimming and diving team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 144-112 win over UMary in action Saturday at the Nemzek Pool in Moorhead, Minn. MSUM won nine events on the day.
"We have been working so hard and we couldn't be more proud of this team," MSUM head coach
Charlie King said. "There were so many true examples of Grit, Humility, and Heart today."
The MSUM 400 medley relay, consisting of senior
Kate MacGregor, freshman
Vasilina Shipilova, senior
Katelin Winter and senior
Lexie Bray, was first in 4:07.80 to get the Dragons off to a good start in the meet.
Winter and Bray both won two events.
Winter won the 200 butterfly in 2:16.31, winning by more than eight seconds. She also won the 100 fly in 59.81.
Bray won the 50 free in 25.29 and also added a win in the 200 back in 2:16.78.
Sophomore
Arina Bratamidjaja won the 200 free in 2:02.21 and was second in the 100 free at 56.93.
MacGregor won the 100 back in 1:02.91.
Shipilova won the 200 breaststroke in thrilling fashion, edging UMary's Rylie Webb by .01 seconds for the win. Shipilova's time was 2:30.36. Shipilova was second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.71.
MSUM's 400 freestyle relay capped off the meet with a win. That consisted of Winter, Shipilova, Bratamidjaja and Bray.
The Dragons will compete on Thursday at Southwest Minnesota State. The dual begins at 2 p.m. in Marshall, Minn.
