The Minnesota State University Moorhead men's basketball team is back in action on Sunday at Northern State. The contest begins at 4 p.m. at Wachs Arena in Aberdeen, S.D.
MSUM is 9-7 overall and 4-3 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference after splitting at home against St. Cloud State (97-63 win) and No. 17 Minnesota Duluth (71-92 loss). Those games were on Dec. 17-18.
Northern State leads the all-time series with MSUM 69-41, although MSUM beat the Wolves 75-65 in November in Moorhead.
Junior guard Gavin Baumgartner leads the team in points per game with 12.1, followed by junior guard Bryce Irsfeld at 10.8. Junior guard Lorenzo McGhee and sophomore forward Dane Zimmer each average 10.1 points per game. Zimmer leads at 7.9 rebounds per game while Baumgartner also leads the team in assists per game with 3.3.
Freshman guard Jacob Beeninga has 26 steals while senior forward Gatdoar Kueth has 11 blocks.
MSUM scores 80.4 points per game and allows 73.5.
Chad Walthall is in his 12th season as head coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead.

The Wolves lost a pair of close games at home on Dec. 17-18 to No. 17 Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State. Jordan Belka leads Northern at 15.1 points and 7.0 rebounds per game while Sam Masten averages 14.1 points. Freshman Jacksen Moni averages 14.0 points aper game while Augustin Reede averages 10.5. Cole Bergan leads at 4.2 assists per game. Saul Phillips is in his third season as the Northern State head coach.
Last Meeting: MSUM 75, Northern 65
The Dragons built a 23-6 lead over the first 13:50 and weathered a second-half rally by Northern State in a 75-65 win over the Wolves on Nov. 23 in Moorhead.
Lorenzo McGhee and Dane Zimmer led MSUM with 17 points each; Zimmer had a double-double with 12 rebounds.
MSUM shot 29-of-47 (61.7 percent) for the game.
