The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team resume action after a two-week break when it plays at Northern State on Sunday. Tipoff is 6 p.m. at Wachs Arena in Aberdeen, S.D.

The contest is a rematch of a Nov. 23 game which the Wolves won 66-48 in Moorhead.

MSUM enters the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference game with a 4-7 overall mark and a 3-4 mark in the league. Northern State is 6-6 overall and 3-4 in the league.

Junior forward Peyton Boom leads the team in points per game with 15.5, followed by freshman guard Natalie Jens with 10.9.  Jens had a career-high 16 points in the Bemidji State game.

Junior guard Natalie Steichen leads the team in assists per game with 3.9. Boom averages 5.9 rebounds per game while Steichen is at 5.8. Jens leads with 12 steals.

MSUM scores 57.5 points per game and allows 63.5.

Karla Nelson is in her 22nd season as head coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead.   She is the second-longest tenured women's coach in the NSIC.

About Northern State

Northern State lost to St. Cloud State in its most recent contest on Dec. 18. Kailee Oliverson leads Northern at 14.3 points per game while Lexi Roe is at 11.6 and Rianna Fillipi is at 11.3. Laurie Rogers leads at 7.1 rebounds per game while Fillipi leads at 5.0 assists per game. Paula Krueger is in her fourth season as head coach at Northern State with a record of 34-50.

First Meeting: Northern 66, MSUM 48

The Wolves outscored MSUM 19-9 in a decisive third quarter on their way to a 66-48 win over MSUM on Nov. 23 in Moorhead. Lexi Roe paced the Wovles with 15 points.

Jens and sophomore guard Mariah McKeever led MSUM with 11 points each. The Dragons were within 31-28 at half but faced a 13-point deficit heading into the fourth quarter.
