The Minnesota State University Moorhead men's basketball team takes an eight-game winning streak into a showdown for the championship in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North Division this week when it plays at No. 2 Northern State. Friday's game is at 7 p.m. while Saturday's is at 4 p.m. at the Barnett Center in Aberdeen. The Wolves (14-0) have won 14 in a row and are 12-0 in the NSIC North while MSUM is 8-2 overall and 8-0 in the north.

Northern State holds a 67-40 edge in the all-time series. Both teams won at home in the 2019-20 season.
ABOUT MSUM...
The Dragons returned to action with convincing 82-71 and 89-60 wins over UMary on Feb. 12-13. In Friday's game junior Lorenzo McGhee had 21 points while junior guard Gavin Baumgartner paced the Dragons on Saturday with a season-high 29 points.
MSUM is led in scoring by McGhee was 15.3 points per game while junior guard Bryce Irsfeld, Baumgartner and sophomore forward Dane Zimmer each average 12.0. Zimmer leads at 5.3 rebounds per game while McGhee averages 5.0. Irsfeld leads at 3.5 assists per game.
MSUM scores 83.7 points per game while allowing 70.6. The Dragons are shooting 49.9 percent from the field, including 40 percent from three-point range.
Chad Walthall is in his 11th season as the MSUM head coach with a record of 218-105.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION…
NO. 2 NORTHERN STATE
The unbeaten and No. 2-ranked Wolves improved to 14-0 with home wins over Minot State (87-77 and 75-64) last weekend.
Junior forward Parker Fox leads the Wolves at 21.5 points and 9.2 rebounds per game while shooting 62.2 percent from the field. He is a four-time NSIC North Player of the Week this season. Mason Stark averages 17.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while Tommy Chatman averages 10.6.
Andrew Kallman averages 4.5 assists per game. Northern State sores 78.3 points per game and allows 65.4.
Saul Phillips is in second season at Northern State with a record of 40-6.
