MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead volleyball team won the first set in both matches but ended up falling in four sets to Augustana and No. 19 Northern State on Friday at the Northern State Classic. The Dragons lost to Augustana 24-26, 25-22, 25-17, 25-17 and to Northern State 21-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-15.
The Dragons are now 0-7 on the non conference season. 
MSUM opened the day with a four-set loss to Augustana. Junior hitter Bridget Witzmann led the hitting corps with 11 kills on a .375 hitting percentage. Junior outside hitter Amanda Carlson had nine kills while Freshman middle blocker Jadyn Feist had eight.
Freshman setter Halle Erickson had 19 assists while freshman setter Kelly Klees had 11. Feist had two solo blocks and three assisted blocks. 
Senior libero Sarah Petrbok had 24 digs while Carlson had 16 and Feist 11.
MSUM hit .113 for the match compared to .201 for Augustana.
In the loss to Northern, Carlson had nine kills while junior Bridget Witzmann had seven and Feist six. Klees had 15 set assists while Erickson had 11. 
Petrbok led with 19 digs while Carlson had 11 and Erickson nine.
Junior middle blocker Elise Bakke had seven block assists while freshman middle blocker Lexi Pew had had two solos and three assists.
MSUM wraps up the weekend with a match against New Mexico Highlands at 9 a.m. in Aberdeen.
