Dragon Football Drops 43-17 Road Contest at Augustana

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead football team was within 24-17 at halftime but was outscored 19-0 in the second half in a 43-17 loss to Augustana in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Saturday in Sioux Falls, S.D.

MSUM fell to 1-2 on the year while Augustana, which is receiving votes in the latest Division II poll, improved to 3-0.

Freshman quarterback Tommy Falk was 21-of-42 for 320 yards and two scores and was intercepted three times. Senior quarterback Justin Czech was 4-of-8 for 73 yards. 

Senior receiver Grady Bresnahan had 11 catches for 133 yards while senior receiver Ryan Harvey-Turner had four catches for 104 and a score. Sophomore receiver Ryan Bieberdorf hauled in a touchdown.

The Dragons had four turnovers compared to three for the Vikings.

MSUM's defense did record three interceptions, as sophomore defensive back Jared Kallenbach, freshman defensive back Cody Sorenson and freshman linebacker Josiah Behm had picks. 

Kallenbach, Behm and senior Shad Vedaa had seven tackles each. Behm and senior defensive lineman Hunter Sall had tackles for loss.

Augustana outgained MSUM 481-359, including 222 to -34 on the ground. 

The Dragons will be home in back-to-back weekends starting Saturday, Sept. 25 against Upper Iowa.
