PREVIEW: MSUM Volleyball Heads To Minot Before Hosting Marauders and Wolves

The Minnesota State University Moorhead volleyball team will travel to Minot, N.D., to compete against Minot State at 6 p.m. on Thursday, then return to host UMary at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Northern State at 6 p.m. on Tuesday of next week. 

The Dragons are 5-16 on the regular season and 2-11 against NSIC opponents after falling to seventh-ranked Southwest Minnesota State University and the University of Sioux Falls. Junior Bridget Witzmann leads the team in kills with 228. Freshman Emily Skalicky leads the team in assists with 502. Senior Elise Bakke leads the team in blocks with 49, followed by junior Tori Thompson with 42. 
            
Bob Jones is in his second season as head coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead.

About Minot State 

The Beavers are 0-20 on the regular season and 0-13 against NSIC opponents after falling to Augustana university and top-ranked Wayne State College last weekend. Sophomore Alexandra Koontz leads the team in kills with 125, followed closely by sophomore Emily Kotelnikoff with 105. Freshman Jaina Macaulay leads the team in assists with 278. Alex Lehocky is in her first season as head coach at Minot State. 

About UMary 

The Marauders are 3-18 on the regular season and 2-11 against NSIC opponents after falling to Wayne State College and Augustana University last weekend. Senior Nehkyah Ellis leads the team in kills with 167. Freshman Maddy Freed leads the team in assists with 338. Sophomore Maddie Cooper leads the team in blocks with 55. Abby Pollart is in her first season as head coach at UMary University. 

About Northern State 

The Wolves are 12-9 on the regular season and 7-6 against NSIC opponents after defeating the University of Sioux Falls and falling to Southwest Minnesota State University last weekend. Graduate Student Sally Gaul leads the ream in kills with 253. Senior Keri Walker leads the team in assists with 708. Brent Aldridge is in his twelfth season as head coach at Northern State University.
