ABERDEEN, S.D. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's swimming and diving team fell to Northern State, 117-81 in the Dragons' season opener Friday in Aberdeen, S.D. Sophomore Demi-Lee Carlisle won two events to lead the Dragons.
Carlisle was first in the 50 free in 25.37 and added a win in the 100 backstroke in 1:01.33.
Freshman Madelynn Johnson won the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.78 and was second in the 400 IM in 4:58.07 (PR).
Sophomore Lily Lengerich won the 100 free in 56.66.
"This team should be proud of how they competed and the way they carried themselves today," MSUM head coach Charlie King said. "We are a young team that brought a very veteran attitude. The upperclassmen did a great job setting the tone and blowing away their times from last year, while our first years had very impressive debut performances."
Arina Bratamidjaja was second in the 1,000 free in 11:47.97 while Taylor Cook was second in the 500 free in 5:43.02.
MSUM's 400 free relay was second with Lengrich, Cook, Bratamidjaja and Carlisle teaming up for a 3:48.59.
Both Linnea Edgren (2:08.98) and Lacie Stark (2:15.34) had a personal best times in the 200 free.
MSUM is at Augustana on Oct. 21.
