The Minnesota State University Moorhead men's basketball team will travel to Sioux Falls, S.D., to compete in the East-West Challenge this weekend. The Dragons will face Black Hills State at 1 p.m. on Friday, then face South Dakota Mines at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The challenge will be held at the Sanford Pentagon Sports Complex in Sioux Falls. Augustana will be the other NSIC team joining the Dragons in the challenge.

The Dragons are 2-0 to start their 2022-23 season by defeating Oklahoma Baptist University and Southeastern Oklahoma State University at the GAC-NSIC Challenge last weekend. Senior
Lorenzo McGhee leads the team in points per game with 21. Senior
Gavin Baumgartner leads the team in assists per game with 6.5. Junior
Dane Zimmer leads the team in rebounds per game with 9, while also leading the Dragons in blocks per game with 1.5.
Tim Bergstraser is in his first season as the head coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead.
About Black Hills State
The Yellow Jackets are 2-0 on the season after defeating the University of Arkansas Fort Smith and Oklahoma Christian University last weekend. Senior Joel Scott leads the team in points per game with 18.5, followed closely by junior PJ Hayes and senior Matthew Ragsdale with 17 apiece. Junior Adam Moussa leads the team in assists per game with 6.5. Ryan Thompson is in his fifth season as head coach at Black Hills State.
About South Dakota Mines
The Hardrockers are 0-2 on the season after falling to Texas A&M – Kingsville and Texas A&M International last weekend. Sophomore Brevin Walter leads the team in points per game with 13. Junior Kolton Frugoli leads the team in assists per game with 4.5. Senior Kolten Mortensen and sophomore Bryce Sherrell lead the team in rebounds per game with 4 apiece. Eric Glenn is in his fifth season as head coach at South Dakota Mines.
