MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Opening up their home dual schedule at Nemzek Fieldhouse, MSUM wrestling fell to Concordia College 33-10 with the Dragons taking two weight class wins.
With the match beginning at 285 pounds, the Dragons opened the dual with a 3-2 decision loss. MSUM was able to take command of the scoreboard after
Clayson Mele picked up six points due to a forfeit win. As the Cobbers took wins at 133, 141 and 149 pounds, the Dragons had an opportunity to jump back into the dual at 157 pounds. A hard-fought effort from
Peyton Ringling came down to the final buzzer with Ringling falling by decision 11-9.
Concordia picked up a decision victory at 165 pounds before
Anthony Castro took to the mat for MSUM at 174 pounds. Castro was all over Zachery Pribyl, gaining over three minutes of riding time to earn a 9-1 major decision for the Dragons. Concordia would take the 184-pound class thanks to a pin from Connor Chloupek, bringing the score to 30-10.
To close out the dual, Concordia's Gabe Zierden picked up a decision win over MSUM's Sam Grove. The Cobbers took the dual 33-10.
The Dragons are back in action at Nemzek Fieldhouse on December 2. MSUM will dual both Minnesota West Community & Technical College and Northland Community & Technical College on that day. The duals are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. respectively.
