Preview: MSUM Travels to Sunshine State for Rollins College Thanksgiving Tournament

The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team will travel to Winter Park, Fla., to compete in the Rollins College Thanksgiving Tournament this weekend. The Dragons will face off against Rollins College at 1 p.m. on Friday.

The Dragons will have a second game on Saturday against either Holy Family University or Lincoln University depending on the results of both games on Friday. The winners of the first round of games will play one another Saturday while those teams that lost Friday will match-up with one another Saturday. Those games are scheduled for 1 p.m. (losing teams) and 3 p.m. (winning teams)
            
The Dragons are 1-2 on the regular season and 0-1 against NSIC opponents are falling short against Northern last Wednesday. Sophomore Natalie Jens leads the team in points per game with 15, followed closely by senior Peyton Boom with 14 points per game. Junior Mariah McKeever leads the team in assists per game with 4.7 and rebounds per game with 8.7. Peyton Boom also leads the team in steals with 1.7 per game. 
            
Karla Nelson is in her 23rd season as head coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead. 

About Rollins College
            
The Tars are 2-2 on the regular season after falling to Webber International University and Embry-Riddle University last weekend. Sophomore Aaliyah Irizarry-Perez leads the team in points per game with 13. Irizarry-Perez also leads the team in rebounds per game with 6.8. Sophomore Kaitlyn Sanders leads the team in assists per game with 3. Glenn Wilkes Jr. is in his 37th season as head coach at Rollins College. 

About Holy Family University

Holy Family is 2-3 on the season with wins over the College of Staten Island and the University of the District of Columbia. The Tigers have dropped games to Franklin Pierce, Shippensburg and Bloomsburg so far this season. The Holy Family offense is paced by Skyler Searfoss, who is averaging a team-leading 11.8 points per game. Ava Morrow averages nearly nine points a game and grabs a team-high 5.4 rebounds per game. The Tigers score 66.2 points per game on average while surrendering 69 points per game to opponents. Bernadette Laukaitis is in her fourth season as head coach of Holy Family.

About Lincoln University

The Lions are 3-1 to start the season with victories over Slipper Rock, University of Charleston and Shepherd University. Their lone loss came to Indiana University of Pennsylvania on November 12. The Lions score 67.8 points per game compared to 66.8 points per game for their opponents. Anyssa Fields is leading the team, scoring 14 points per game while Kania Pollock scores nearly 13 a game for the Lions. Janice Washington is in her second season as head coach of Lincoln.
