CROOKSTON, Minn. -- A night after going the full five set distance with Bemidji State, MSUM volleyball was once again tested on Saturday afternoon. This time, it was Minnesota Crookston pushing the Dragons to another five set match.

Set 1

The Dragons were able to jump out quickly on the Golden Eagles, stifling them with aggressive offense and defense. MSUM hit .407 in the first frame compared to Crookston's -0.59. The Dragons were also able to notch three service aces and three blocks. Crookston's nine attack errors were the difference maker in the opening set.
Set 2

While MSUM was able to gather four more service aces in the second set, it was Crookston who began hitting the ball more efficiently on offense. By set's end, the Golden Eagles hit .412 with 17 of thier 25 points coming from kills.
Set 3

Another close set that came down to unforced errors for both teams. Unlike in the first set, Crookston only committed four attack errors in the third set. However, the Dragons finished the set with nine attack errors. While MSUM was able to tally 16 kills in the set, it was not enough to overcome the errors.
Set 4

In a deciding fourth set, MSUM played perhaps their most complete set of volleyball with their backs against the wall. Only committing one attack error, the Dragons hit .333 in the set on 42 attack attempts. It was that efficiency that once again helped the Dragons bring this match to a crucial fifth set.

Crookston was able to get four service aces in the set while hitting an impressive .529 on 17 attack attempts. That was enough to guide the Golden Eagles to a fifth set and match victory.
