PREVIEW: MSUM Swimming Hosts Mustangs, Golden Bears and Jimmies This Weekend

The Minnesota State University Moorhead swimming and diving team will host Southwest Minnesota State University at 4 p.m. on Friday, then host Concordia St. Paul and the University of Jamestown at 3 p.m. on Saturday this weekend. 
            
The Dragons are 0-8 on the season after falling to the University of Mary last weekend. Sophomore Arina Bratamidjaja led the Dragons with a first-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle. Freshman Madelynn Johnson won the 200-yard IM and took home a victory in the 100-yard breaststroke. Freshman Lacie Stark added a win in the 100-yard backstroke.

Charlie King is in his sixth season as head coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead. 

About Southwest Minnesota State University 
           
The Mustangs are 6-3 on the season after falling to Minnesota State University Mankato last Thursday. Sophomore Grace Busch earned a first-place time in the 500-yard freestyle with senior MacKenzie Kallevig finishing second. Sophomore Maija Geier won both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle to lead the Mustangs. Marty Wahle is in his fourth season as head coach at Southwest Minnesota State University. 

About Concordia St. Paul 
            
The Golden Bears are 0-5 on the season after falling to Southwest Minnesota State University on October 22nd. Sophomore Farida Maher led the Golden Bears with first-place finishes in the 1000 yard freestyle, 100 yard freestyle, and the 500 yard freestyle. Freshman Chloe Rihon added a pair of second-place finishes for the Golden Bears. Rachel Busch is in her second season as head coach at Concordia St. Paul. 

About University of Jamestown
            
The Jimmies are 0-3 on the season after falling to the University of Minnesota Morris last weekend. Senior Courtnay Kiecker, sophomore Emma Pickrel, sophomore Sulinke Vandenberg, and freshman Laurel Knox took first in the 200 Medley. Laurel Knox also placed first in the 200 Freestyle and the 500 Freestyle. Sophomore Jada Shorter placed first in both diving events. Craig Mallery is in his second season as head coach at the University of Jamestown.
