DAY ONE RESULTS
ROCHESTER, Minn. -- MSUM opened up competition at the annual Rochester Invite this morning and evening. The three-day event featured over 20 different swimming & diving programs from across the region. Today's events included 200 Medley Relay, 500 Free, 200 IM, 50 Free, 100 Fly and the 800 Free Relay.
It was in the 800-yard freestyle relay where MSUM was able to shine brightest. The team of
Demi-Lee Carlisle,
Arina Bratamidjaja,
Linnea Edgren and
Taylor Cook swam an 8:21.14 as a seed time. In the final heat, the Dragons swam and 8:11.62, almost 10 seconds better than their seed time. MSUM finished 11th in the 800-yard freestyle relay and 12th in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of
Lacie Stark,
Madelynn Johnson, Edgren and Carlilse swam a 1:50.28 finals time, almost four seconds faster than their seed time.Â
The sophomore Edgren also swam in the 200-yard IM clocking in a preliminary time of 2:16.36 and improving that to a 2:14.84 finals time.
Demi-Lee Carlisle fell just milliseconds short of qualifying for the championship finals heat with a 24.63 in the 50-yard freestyle. The sophomore would put in a 24.65 in the finals to place second in the consolation final. Maddie Johnson swam a 1:01.26 preliminary time in the 100-yard fly, improving that time 1:00.56 in the finals. It was the freshman's first time swimming the 100 fly this season.
Competition resumes tomorrow morning with preliminaries at 10 a.m. and finals at 5 p.m. from Rochester. Events scheduled for tomorrow are the 200 Free Relay, 400 IM, 200 Free, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke and 400 Medley Relay.
