DAY THREE RESULTS
ROCHESTER, Minn. -- Behind a string of strong individual and relay performances, MSUM wrapped up competition at the annual Rochester Invite Sunday evening.
The Dragons finished eighth as a team with 448.5 points. "The team did absolutely fantastic," said head coach
Charlie King. "We got stronger every session and had an outstanding finish to a long weekend."
Day Two
The Dragons were led on Saturday by the performance of
Demi-Lee Carlisle. The sophomore swam a 58.97 preliminary time in the 100-yard backstroke to qualify for the championship heat later that evening. The Johannesburg, South Africa, native would go on to clock in a 57.96 in the championship final, which tied for third.
Linnea Edgren swam a 1:09.53 preliminary time in the 100-yard breaststroke while
Taylor Cook qualified for the consolation final in the 200-yard freestyle. Cook swam a 1:59.54 in the preliminary.
MSUM's 200-yard freestyle relay team of
Lily Lengerich, Cook,
Lacie Stark and Carlisle swam a preliminary time of 1:43.34. Those four would improve that time by nearly two seconds in the final heat, checking in a time of 1:41.87. Cook, Carlisle, Edgren and
Madelynn Johnson clocked in a 4:05.52 in th 400-yard medley relay, nearly five seconds better than their preliminary time.
Day Three
MSUM names were all over the 100-yard freestyle event with three Dragons qualifying for the consolation final.
Demi-Lee Carlisle (53.87),
Taylor Cook (54.24) and
Lily Lengerich (55.57) all finished in the top-16 of the event.
Lacie Stark put in a 2:16.67 in the 200-yard backstroke which was almost two seconds better than her preliminary time. Stark also improved on her 100-yard IM preliminary time by almost three seconds (1:05.98).
Molly Lenmark (1:11.57) and
Havyn Pelland (1:11.52) both qualified for the C-final in the 100-yard IM along with Stark.
Madelynn Johnson won the consolation final in the 200-yard breaststroke after swimming a 2:26.11 finals time. Johnson swam a 2:27.62 in the preliminary round.
Arina Bratamidjaja swam a finals time of 19:24.76 in the 1650-yard freestyle, which was nearly 16 seconds better than her preliminary time earlier in the day.
The relay team of Carlisle, Edgren, Lengerich and Cook finished 11th in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team swam a 3:44.92 in the preliminary round only to improve on that time to 3:39.54 in the finals. The team of Bratamidjaja, Stark, Johnson and Lenmark finished with a 3:48.25 finals time in the same event.
MSUM will not compete until the Dragon Invite on January 13 and 14. Action is scheduled to get under way from Hulbert Aquatic Center in Fargo at 5 p.m. on January 13.
