MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Dragon wrestling enters their NSIC dual schedule this weekend with a pair of match-ups against conference foes. MSUM will wrestle Augustana in Sioux Falls, S.D. at 7 p.m. on Friday before traveling to Marshall, Minn., to take on Southwest Minnesota State at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
MSUM is coming off competition at their annual Dragon Open where the team had one unattached champion. Senior heavyweight
Andre Baguma finished runner-up after picking up a huge major decision victory at the open.
Clayson Mele leads the Dragons with 10 wins so far this season after finishing the Dragon Open 2-2. Mele has four falls, which is tied for the team lead (not including unattached competitors) with
Parker Benz and
Caleb Vacura. 165-pounder
Jonas Anez leads MSUM with three major decisions while five Dragons have a technical fall on their ledger so far this season.
The Dragons are 1-1 in dual competition this season with a win over Jamestown and a loss to Concordia College. MSUM has also competed at two other open tournaments in 2022-23.
Kris Nelson is in his 14th season as the head coach of the Dragons.
