The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team will finish the 2021-2022 regular season this week with a pair of games that will have a big impact on the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference tournament. The Dragons will host UMary on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. then travel to face Minot State on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. this weekend.

MSUM is locked in a four-way battle with Northern State, Minot State and UMary for spots 4-6 in the NSIC North. The top six teams in each division qualify for the NSIC tournament, meaning one of those teams won't qualify. MSUM beat Minot at home in December and lost at UMary.

The Dragons are 7-13 on the season and 6-10 in the NSIC after beating Bemidji State, 83-63 on Saturday and falling to Minnesota Crookston, 68-60 last weekend.

Junior Peyton Boom leads the team in points per game with 15.4 and also leads in rebounding at 6.7 per game. Junior Natalie Steichen leads the team in assists per game with 3.7 and is second with 5.8 rebounds per game. Steichen also leads in steals with 28.

Karla Nelson is in her 22nd season as head coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead.
