The Minnesota State University Moorhead men's basketball team will face off against St. Cloud State in the quarterfinals of the NSIC/Sanford Health tournament on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
MSUM is 14-11 all-time in the NSIC tournament under Head Coach Chad Walthall. The Dragons have advanced to the NSIC tournament championship four times in his tenure.
The Dragons will face St. Cloud State for a third time this season. MSUM won the first meeting 97-63 on Dec. 17 in Moorhead and then held on for a 69-67 win over the Huskies in St. Cloud on Feb. 5 in St. Cloud.
SCSU leads the all-time series with MSUM 85-50. The Dragons have won four straight in the series.
The Dragons finished the regular season with a five-game winning streak to complete a 16-11 record and a 11-7 record in the NSIC. The Dragons defeated UMary and Minot State last weekend and solidified their status as the No. 2 seed in the NSIC North, which gave them a first-round bye in the conference tournament. Junior Lorenzo McGhee leads the team in points per game with 12.4, followed closely by junior Gavin Baumgartner with 12.1 points per game.
Sophomore forward Dane Zimmer leads at 7.0 rebounds per game while Baumgartner leads at 3.2 assists per game. Freshman guard Jacob Beeninga leads at 1.4 steals per game.

The Huskies advanced in the NSIC tournament with a 100-98 win at Wayne State on Wednesday night, thanks to 34 points from Anthony Roberts. SCSU is now 11-17 on the season. Roberts leads SCSU at 20.6 points per game while Caleb Donaldson averages 17.8. Matthew Willert averages 13.4 points per game while Josh Tomasi averages 10.9. Roberts leads at 8.6 rebounds per game while Donaldson averages 3.4 assists. Matt Reimer is in his eighth season as head coach at St. Cloud State.
