DULUTH, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team couldn't overcome a cold-shooting night in a 67-42 loss at Minnesota Duluth in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Friday night in Duluth, Minn.
The Dragons shot just 25.8 percent (16-of-62) from the field, including 16.7 percent (4-of-24) from three-point range. UMD shot 49 percent (24-of-49) and held a 45-20 edge on the glass.
The Dragons did not have a play in double figures. Junior forward

Natalie Jens had nine points each to lead the way. Junior forward
Shyanne Loiland had seven rebounds while junior guard
Natalie Steichen led with four assists and three steals.
The Dragons got off to a good start in the game, opening on an 8-0 run as Jens hit a pair of three-pointers and Loiland sank a bucket. UMD battled back with a 13-2 run to take a 13-10 lead. Senior guard
Nicole Herbranson converted a three-point play to tie the game at 13-13 which was the score at the end of the first quarter.
UMD built a 13-point lead in the second quarter but back to back threes from Boom and sophomore guard
Mariah McKeever cut the lead to 31-23 by halftime.
The Bulldogs stretched the lead to 17 in the third quarter and led by 13 going into the final quarter, on their way to the win.
Senior forward
Emma Thuringer added six points in 10 minutes off the bench for the Dragons.
The Dragons play at No. 18 St. Cloud State at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
