The Minnesota State University Moorhead volleyball team will travel to Billings, Mont., to compete in the Yellow Jacket Invitational to open the 2022 regular season. . The Dragons face Montana State University Billings at noon Central and South Dakota Mines at 4 p.m. CT on Friday, then face Chadron State at 9 a.m. CT and Saint Martin's at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
The Dragons were 5-15 in the NSIC and 5-23 on the year for the 2021 season. Seniors Amanda Carlson and Elise Bakke lead the Dragons onto the court for the start of the 2022 season. Juniors Morgan Cleveland, Teeya Doppler, Bridget Witzmann, and Brooke Walthall also return with experience.
Bob Jones enters his second season as head coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead.
The Opponents
Montana State University Billings
The Yellow Jackets were 7-11 in Conference play and 12-16 on the year for the 2021 season. Seniors Hailey Carroll, Hannah Hashbarger, Skylar Reed, and Hannah Hayden lead their team back onto the court. Casey Bonner enters her seventh season as head coach at MSU-Billings.
South Dakota Mines
The Hardrockers were 6-12 in conference play and 12-14 on the year for the 2021 season. Seniors Kassie Luce, Kristin Luce, Dejah Behrend, Anna Thomas, Jacey Koethe, Victoria Zagorki, and Lily Bartlin lead their team back onto the court. Lauren Torvi Prochazka enters her fifth season as head coach at South Dakota Mines.
Chadron State
The Eagles were 3-15 in conference play and 5-20 on the year for the 2021 season. Seniors Abby Schaefer, Micaiah Vrbka, Breshawna Kelly, and Devyn Volz lead their team onto the court for the start of the 2022 season. Jennifer Stadler enters her fourth season as head coach at Chadron State.
Saint Martin's University
The Saints were 3-15 in Conference play and 10-18 on the year for the 2021 season. Juniors Karla Soto, Brooklyn Johnson, Gracie Brenner, Giselle Benetti, Kylie Coon, and Britney Duvall lead their team back onto the court for the start of the 2022 season. Dan Behnke enters his second season as head coach at Saint Martin's University.
