The Minnesota State University Moorhead volleyball team makes its home debut this week as it also opens Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.. The Dragons will host Minnesota Crookston at 6 p.m. on Friday and Bemidji State at 2 p.m. on Saturday this weekend.
The Dragons are 3-5 on the season after falling to Northern State, Augustana, and South Dakota Mines while defeating Truman State at the Augustana Tournament last weekend. Junior Bridget Witzmann leads the team in kills with 104 while freshman middle blocker Tori Thompson has 60.
Freshman Emily Skalicky leads the team in set assists with 194.
Junior Tori Thompson leads the team in blocks with 27, followed closely by Senior Elise Bakke with 26. Â Junior defensive specialist Brooke Walthall leads with 125 digs while freshman defensive specialist Macie Wieman has 72.
Bob Jones is in his second season as head coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead.

The Golden Eagles are 1-7 on the season after falling to McKendree University, Parkside, and Michigan Technological University, then defeating University of Illinois Springfield last weekend. Sophomore Bailey Schaefer leads the team in kills with 66, followed closely by Freshman Audrey Cariveau with 64. Junior Mara Weisensel leads the team in blocks with 12. Former Dragon assistant coach Nick Meseck is in his first season as head coach at Minnesota Crookston.
About Bemidji State
The Beavers are 1-7 on the season after Southern New Hampshire, Flagler, Emmanuel College, and Eckerd College last weekend. Junior Hallie Mertz leads the team in kills with 79. Sophomore Emily Wade leads the team in assists with 118, followed closely by Freshman Hally Holker with 117. Junior Rylie Bjerklie leads the team in blocks with 10. Kevin Ulmer is in his seventh season as head coach at Bemidji State.
