MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The MSU Moorhead women's basketball team will travel to Marshall, Minn., for a matchup against the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, then travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. for a matchup against the Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday this weekend.
The Dragons are 8-6 on the regular season and 5-5 against NSIC opponents after defeating Northern State inside Nemzek Fieldhouse on Tuesday evening. MSUM is also coming off a weekend split where they defeated Wayne State, but fell to Augustana. Sophomore
Natalie Jens leads the team in points per game with 15.3. Senior
Peyton Boom leads the team in rebounds per game with 7.6. Jens also leads the team in total assists with 40. Junior
Mariah McKeever leads the team with 25 steals.
MSUM stifled a hot Northern State team on Tuesday evening after the Wolves shot 51.9 percent in the first half of the game. The Dragons shut Northern State down with a spiritied effort in the final 20 minutes to come out with a 60-53 win. It is the seventh time this season that MSUM has held an opponent under 60 points. McKeever led the Dragons with 21 points with
Peyton Boom adding 16 points.
Karla Nelson is in his twenty-third season as head coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead. Nelson enters the weekend with 393 career wins.
About Southwest Minnesota State
The Mustangs are 10-5 on the regular season and 7-3 against NSIC opponents after defeating Minot State and falling to the University of Mary last weekend. Sophomore Bri Stoltzman leads the team in points per game with 13.1, followed closely by sophomore Hannah Parsley with 12.7 points per game. Stoltzman also leads with 6.3 rebounds per game. Tom Webb is in his seventh season as head coach at Southwest Minnesota State University.

The Cougars are 4-12 on the regular season and 1-9 against NSIC opponents after falling to Minot State and the University of Mary last weekend. Sophomore Brecli Honner leads the team in points and rebounds per game with 10.6 and 4.2 respectively. Travis Traphagen is in his fifteenth season as head coach at the University of Sioux Falls.
