Dragons Best Cobbers in Dual Action

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead won 10 of 13 events on Saturday afternoon en route to a 122-88 dual win over eighth street neighbors Concordia College. 

MSUM won both relay events as the team of Lacie Stark, Madelynn Johnson, Maggie Sullivan and Demi-Lee Carlisle swam a 1:54.73 in the 200-yard medley relay. The time was 15 seconds better than Concordia's top team finish. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of Johnson, Lee-Carlisle, Linnea Edgren and Lily Lengerich swam a 1:45.82 to win the event. The team of Taylor Cook, Arina Bratamidjaja, Molly Lenmark and Charmaine Haas swam a 2:01.73 to place third against the Cobbers. 

Johnson collected another win today, this time in the 100-yard butterfly. The freshman swam a 101.66 in the event to win by almost 11 seconds. In her Dragon debut, Isabelle Johnson put in a solid effort in 1-meter diving, tallying a 187.75 score. That was just under one point away from getting the event victory. 

Bratamidjaja continued her strong day with a win the 1000-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle. The sophomore swam a 11:39.35 in the 1000-yard, winning by over two minutes. In the 500-yard freestyle, she swam a 5:46.7 to win by 13 seconds.

Taylor Cook also put in a fine performance, winning the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle. Her 2:02.73 won her the event, besting the next finisher by 14 seconds. In the 100-yard freestyle, Cook swam a 55.97 to win. Lengerich (57.39) and Stark (59.35) placed third and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle. 

Linnea Edgren won the 100-yard breaststroke and the 100-yard IM today. Edgren's 1:05.22 won her the IM event by nearly three seconds, Sullivan finished right behind Edgren in the event (1:08.95). Edgren clocked in a 1:12.74 in the 100-yard breaststroke for another event win.

Lee-Carlisle scored a win in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.51 beating fellow teammate Maggie Sullivan (1:06.72) by over five seconds. 

MSUM is back at home next weekend as they host Minnesota State Mankato inside Nemzek Pool. The Dragons and Mavericks are slated to dual on Saturday, January 28 at 3 p.m.
