MOORHEAD, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead swimming & diving will hit the road for the first time in 2023-24 as the Dragons will take part in the Sioux Falls Quad meet, hosted by the University of Sioux Falls on Friday and Saturday.
Action is set to begin Friday at 5 p.m. as the Dragons will compete against the Cougars and Augustana across those two days. Northern State will also be in attendance at the dual. Day one will likely not be scored from a team perspective, but day two will feature traditional dual scoring between the Dragons, Cougars and Vikings.Â
MSUM has begun its campaign with an unblemished 2-0 dual record following their 167-121 dual win over Northern State on Friday. The Dragons overcame a disqualification in the first relay race of the evening to best the Wolves.
Kelsey Jackson had a strong day for the Dragons against the Wolves, winning both the 100-yard and 200-yard backstrokes. Jackson posted top ten times in school history in both events including a 2:07.9 in the 200-yard backstroke, which is now the fourth-fastest time in school history.
Isabelle Johnson also posted great results for the Dragons in 1M and 3M diving. Johnson won both events with marks of 216.4 in 1M and 226.2 in 3M.Â
Cami Mayo grabbed an event win for the Dragons in the 1000-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 11:14.62.
Maggie Moore would take home a win in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.25 with
Demi-Lee Carlisle finishing just behind Moore with a mark of 55.39.
Linnea Edgren would command both breastroke races, winning both the 100-yard and 200-yard portions. Edgren clocked marks of 1:11.84 in the 100-yard and 2:38.63 in the 200-yard breaststroke.Â
To close the dual, MSUM won the 200-yard medley relay as the team of Moore, Carlisle,
Ruth Pavelski and
Sophia Verke clocked a 1:40.18 to win by nearly two full seconds.Â
