MOORHEAD, Minn. -- MSU Moorhead soccer will bring its 2023 season to a close on Thursday, November 2 as the Dragons host Minot State in NSIC play. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. from Nemzek Soccer Field.

MSUM closed its road schedule this past weekend against Augustana and Southwest Minnesota State. On Friday, Augie used a pair of goals in the first 16 minutes to take home a 3-0 win over the Dragons. To close the weekend, MSUM fell 2-0 to the Mustangs, who scored once in each half. Minot State won last year's tilt between the two teams, 3-0 on a trio of second half goals. The Dragons have not defeated the Beavers since September 20, 2019, a 1-0 win on a goal from Anna Steadland.
In 2023,
Tabea Czech has been a catalyst for the Dragon offense as the senior has netted two goals and three assists. Czech has played the third-most minutes for MSUM this season with 1,347. Junior defender
Sara Alfrida Munk Nielsen leads the team in minutes overall, having played all 1,530 minutes this season as Thursday's contest will likely solidify her Ironwoman status.
Brooklyn Broderick leads the Dragons with 27 total shots in 2023 with 14 being on goal.
Simone Lewald has been stout in between the pipes for MSUM this season, saving a total of 100 shots in 2023. The senior has faced a total of 269 shots this season and has an .840 save percentage.
Christie Kopietz is in her eighth season as MSUM's head soccer coach.
Scouting Minot State
The Beavers (6-8-3, 3-7-3 NSIC) are coming off a strong weekend on the road which saw them tie Wayne State 2-2 on Friday evening. Minot State would turn around and defeat Sioux Falls 3-1 on Sunday, giving them their third conference win. Freshman forward Illiana Rivera and junior midfielder Yossi Villagrana lead the Beavers with three goals each this season while both players have dished out an assist as well. Junior defender Morgen Fried leads Minot State in total minutes with 1,416 for the year. Junior goalkeeper Siriana Gudino has been Minot State's primary stopper this season, saving 43 shots in 115 total shots faced. Gudino has registered a .741 save percentage so far in 2023.
Minot State is led by T.J. Perez in his first year as head coach. Perez served as the interim head coach for the Beavers in 2022.
