Natalie Jens had what was potentially the best game of her Dragon career to help her team to a blowout victory over Minot State. The Dragons handled the Beavers 68-40.
How The Game Was Won
- A spirited first quarter ended with MSUM leading by just one basket as both teams played a strong 10 minutes. Minot State would connect on seven of 15 field goal attempts while the Dragons shot 50 percent in the quarter.
- The Dragons also made three three-pointers in the frame to take the lead.
- MSUM dominated the second quarter on both ends of the floor, holding the Beavers to just seven points in 10 minutes on a 25 percent shooting clip.
- While the Dragons did not shoot much better in the frame (26.7 percent), MSUM made two more long range shots and four free throws to own a 31-22 halftime lead.
- MSUM forced eight Beavers turnovers in the second quarter alone.
- The third quarter saw MSUM outscore Minot State again, 17-12, while also forcing the Beavers to 25 percent shooting. Compare this to MSUM's 36.8 percent mark in those 10 minutes.
- MSUM grabbed six offensive rebounds in the quarter as the Dragons scored all of their points in the quarter off second chances.
- The Dragons put the finishing touches on the game with a dominating final 10 minutes. MSUM held Minot State to just six points and 7.7 percent shooting (one total field goal).
- Once again, MSUM absolutely dominated the glass, grabbing 14 more rebounds than the Beavers in the win (46-32).
- Natalie Jens paced the Dragons all day, scoring 27 points to go along with six rebounds and a career-high five steals.
- In five career games against the Beavers, Jens has averaged 18.6 points per game including her career-high of 33 points set on February 19, 2022.
- Jens shot an astronomical 11 of 15 (73.3 percent) from the floor including a three of five ledger from long distance.
- Terryn Johnson collected her fourth straight double-double in the game, scoring 10 points and snaring 12 rebounds.
