WEST FARGO, N.D. –
Madelynn Johnson placed fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke to find the podium for MSUM on day three of the NSIC Swimming & Diving Championships. By day's end, five Dragons set new personal bests.
Arina Bratamidjaja began the day with a new personal best in the 500-yard freestyle prelims. The sophomore bested her previous top mark by nearly three seconds, swimming a 5:39.78 in the event.
Maggie Sullivan set a new personal best in the 100-yard backstroke preliminaries, swimming a 1:02.05 in the event which was better than the 1:02.51 she swam at last year's conference meet.
Lacie Stark (1:00.02) and
Demi-Lee Carlisle (58.96) also had strong showings in the 100-yard breaststroke, qualifying for the C and B final respectively.
Stark swam a 1:00.05 in the C final with Carlisle swimming a 58.34 in the B final to place second in the final. Carlisle finished 10
th overall, but had the seventh fastest finals time out of the 24 finalists.
Molly Lenmark set a new personal best in the 100-yard breaststroke prelims, swimming a 1:18.24 in the event.
Madelynn Johnson would continue her strong week with a new personal record in the same event, clocking in a time of 1:05.94 which bested her previous best of 1:06.38. Johnson qualified for the A final with the time while
Linnea Edgren (1:10.06 prelim time) qualified for the C final. Edgren would finish her day with a 1:10.61 in the C final.
Johnson continued to showcase her talent in the A final, swimming a new personal best of 1:04.85 to place fifth overall. The mark fell just short of the 1:04.08 B standard time, but still put the freshman on the podium for the first time in her career.
In the final event of the night, the 800-yard freestyle relay, the team of Carlisle, Bratamidjaja,
Lily Lengerich and
Taylor Cook swam a 8:16.54 in the A final.
The Dragons are in ninth place as a team after three days with 75 team points.

The final day of the NSIC Swimming & Diving Championships begin at 10 a.m. tomorrow with preliminary heats of the 100-yard IM, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 200-yard breaststroke and the 1650-yard freestyle. 3-meter diving preliminaries will take place at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
Final heats of those events and the 400-yard freestyle relay will begin at 5:30 p.m.
