CROOKSTON, MINN. – Behind blazing performances from
Natalie Jens and
Terryn Johnson, the MSU Moorhead women's basketball team picked up a massive NSIC North win in Crookston this evening. The Dragons bested the Golden Eagles 75-65.
Terryn Johnson would lead MSUM in the first quarter, totaling six points on three of four shooting.
Mariah McKeever would add in four points with a
Bailey Keske three helping the Dragons jump out in front. The team would shoot 42.1 percent in the first 10 minutes to hold a 17-12 lead after one quarter.
MSUM would cool off in the second quarter, shooting just 25 percent from the field in the frame. While Minnesota Crookston would shoot just 38.9 percent from the field, four three-point field goals would help put the Golden Eagles in front.
Natalie Jens would net two threes in the half to lead the Dragons with eight points. After 20 minutes, Crookston led 30-28 with MSUM shooting 36.7 percent from the floor in the half.
Behind the fabulous play of
Terryn Johnson, MSUM was able to build a six-point lead on the Golden Eagles. Johnson went on an individual 10-0 run to bring her game total to 16, a new career-high. MSUM outscored Minnesota Crookston 20-16 in the third quarter to carry a 48-46 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Dragons would come out in the fourth quarter with plenty of offensive firepower in the fourth quarter. MSUM shot eight of 10 from the field to begin the quarter with
Mariah McKeever,
Natalie Jens and
Olivia Skibiel all netting three-pointers to help put the Dragons up 69-60 with just under three minutes remaining.
MSUM would hang on for a 75-65 win. It is
Karla Nelson's 397
th career victory.
