BEMIDJI, Minn. – MSU Moorhead would overcome a 12-point defecit in the second half, but was unable to come up with a late basket to defeat Bemidji State The Beavers beat the Dragons 88-87.
MSUM opened the game with a balanced scoring effort with four different Dragons scoring in the first five minutes of play. The team would shoot 70 percent through the first seven minutes to take a 16-9 lead over the Beavers early on. A
Logan Kinsey three-pointer would put the Dragons back in front after Bemidji State had a flurry of inside baskets. Midway through the first half, MSUM led 23-21.
Jacob Beeninga would net his second three of the half to put the Dragons back up by four points. Beeninga led MSUM in the first 20 minutes, scoring 12 points on three of seven shooting including four free throws. The Beavers would go on an 8-0 in the latter stages of the second half, taking a seven-point lead with just over 90 seconds to play. Bemidji State would close the half outscoring the Dragons 11-4, taking a 48-42 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Bemidji State would build a lead as large as 12 points before MSUM began cutting into that comfortable lead. Beeninga,

Dane Zimmer would all score baskets to help pull the Dragons to within three points midway through the half. The Beavers would stretch that lead back up to eight points by the under 10 media timeout.
MSUM would once again trim the Beaver lead to three points with just over five minutes remaining. That lead would dwindle to one point with under two minutes remaining.
Lorenzo McGhee would make two free throws with 22 seconds left to put MSUM up 87-86. However, Bemidji State would score with 11 seconds remaining with the Dragons unable to answer on the other end. Bemidji State would win the game 88-87.
