MOORHEAD, Minn. – On Senior Night, MSU Moorhead's veterans showcased their value, scoring a combined 66 points to get past the University of Mary 86-76.
MSUM would jump out in front and shoot the ball better than in Minot two night ago. The Dragons opened the game with a 44.4 percent field goal percentage in part thanks to 12 early points from
Jaden Stanley-Williams. The senior made five of his first seven shot attempts.
Lorenzo McGhee chipped in six points in the dame stretch to give MSUM a 28-18 lead.
The Dragons would keep an arms-length from the Marauders as the half waned, leading by nine points with under five minutes left. To that point in the game, the Dragons were shooting 51.7 percent from the floor. Mary would close the half making four of their last five field goals, netting 57.1 percent of their shots in the first 20 minutes. Although that stretch did dip into the Dragon lead, a
Gavin Baumgartner buzzer-beater would put the Dragons up 44-39.
MSUM would build a 12-point lead seven minutes into the second half thanks to aggressive basket attacks which led to foul shots. Mary would cut that lead to eight points midway through the half as the Marauders continued to shoot the ball at a high percentage both from the field and from long distance. To that point in the game, however, MSUM had seven more offensive rebounds compared to Mary.
As the game dwindled, MSUM would not see their lead drop below eight points. The Dragon seniors combined for 66 of MSUM's 86 points in a 86-76 win.

The only other Dragons team in history to finish the regular season with 22 wins was the 1980-81 outfit that ended 22-5. That squad, coached by Dave Schellhase, lost the NAIA District 13 championship game 79-74 to Augsburg, then were declared the winner by forfeit weeks later after an ineligible player for Augsburg was discovered.
