MSUM Falls to Mary in Sunday Afternoon Match

MANDAN, N.D. -- In their second match of the 2023 season, MSU Moorhead tennis came up with two singles wins, but we unable to get past the University of Mary Marauders. The Dragons fell 5-2 in the first collegiate match held inside the Mandan Tennis Center.

Mary would take two of three doubles matches to collect the team point. However, the team of Marissa Burian and Claire Nemmers put in a strong performance for the Dragons. The freshman tandem picked up a doubles win against Emily Needham and Samantha Purpura 7-5.

Nemmers would continue to have a strong day for MSUM, beating Needham in singles action to give the Dragons a team point. Madison Bell also picked up her second singles win of the weekend with a straight sets win over Mary's Samantha Purpura. Bell and Nemmers would be the only two Dragons to take home singles wins.
