ROSEMONT, Ill. – In their first two contests of the five-game Lewis Dome Invitational, MSU Moorhead softball collected two wins over Ursuline College and Ferris State. The victories bring the Dragon win total to 10 in as many games so far this season.

Dragons 6, Arrows 5

It would be MSUM who would open up the scoring in the bottom of the third inning. Evey Evans stepped into the box with Avery Steffen on second following a fielder's choice. Evans cracked one over the right-field fence to score herself and Steffen. The Dragons took an early 2-0 lead thanks to the homer.

Ursuline would not respond until the top of the fifth inning, plating five runs. The Dragons would get on the board in the bottom half of the inning as Avery Steffen scored on an Arrow error. Through five innings, Ursuline led 5-3. With their backs against the wall, MSUM would respond in the bottom of the sixth, knotting the game at five thanks to a home run from Eliya Johnson, bringing in herself and Ella Holiman

MSUM would load the bases with one out in the bottom half of the seventh inning. With Eliya Johnson grounding into a fielder's choice for the second out, the Dragons had one more shot at the win. Azalya Lopez stepped to the plate and worked the count to 2-1 before casting a single into right field, scoring Lizzy Davis. With the hit, MSUM took the contest 6-5.

Evans pitched a strong top half of the seventh inning to earn the win for the Dragons. Kaelyn Leverson started in the circle, throwing three and one-third innings and striking out two Arrows.
